Rally.io Community Standards v1 (effective May 2, 2022)

Hello everyone,

This past month, Rally’s General Counsel Robert Collier and I worked in consultation with the Rally executive team and our Creator and Developer Advisory Councils to draft and finalize a first version of our Rally Community Standards. The new Standards will be effective as of May 2, 2022, when they will be published on the Rally website (accessed via the footer). We’ve published them below for your review ahead of time.

We had a lot of thoughtful discussion as we worked towards this first version of the Standards, and we will continue to monitor how they are applied and enforced in conversation with our community of creators, developers and holders.

The intent of these Standards is to ensure that the Rally community remains a healthy and safe space as we realize our mission to provide communities ownership over the value they create. With these Standards, and future versions of them in place, we are excited to continue to grow the best possible Rally community.

  1. Introduction

Rally is a platform for creators and their communities to build their own independent digital economies by enabling creators, artists, celebrities, communities and brands to launch their own social tokens and NFTs (“Rally” or “We”). These Community Standards govern your use and access to Rally’s platform, webpages, discord channels, third party forums, applications, APIs, products and services, including access through third party integrations (collectively also referred herein as the “Site”) and are intended to encourage community members to participate in a safe and respectful manner. If you violate these Community Standards and Guidelines or the Rally Terms of Service your account may be permanently suspended or terminated.

  1. Platform Integrity

Platform manipulation. Rally is a platform that allows communities to engage with each other safely and responsibly. Therefore, community members are prohibited from manipulating the platform in such a way that it interferes with the intended use of the platform for community members. Platform manipulation includes but is not limited to the use of bots, spamming users with unsolicited information, coordinated activity that artificially influences Creator Coin prices or that perpetuates a financial scheme, and/or engaging in activity that disrupts the provision of the services.

  1. Account Integrity and Authenticity

Fraud & Impersonation. We believe a healthy community is a community that encourages transparency and authenticity among community members. Users are prohibited from impersonating or encouraging others to impersonate individuals, public figures, groups, or organizations on the platform. Any misleading or deceptive activity will not be allowed and is inconsistent with the community’s objective to maintain a healthy and safe space for users. Additionally, you may not violate the intellectual property (e.g. unauthorized logo or other trademark or copyright usage) of others.

Sanctions. Individuals and businesses that are the subject of or located in a country that is the subject of generalized economic and trade sanctions administered by any regulatory authority or designated as a sanctioned person or business on any list maintained by United Nations Security Council, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the European Union or its Member States, or other applicable regulatory authority (a “Sanctioned Person”) may not use the Site or any features of the Site.

Inactivity or Squatting. Community members are encouraged to actively participate in the communities they choose. Accounts that become inactive may be permanently deleted. In order to keep your account active you must maintain a balance of Creator Coin or RLY in your account and login in to your account at least once annually. You are also prohibited from squatting or holding account and Creator Coin names for a prolonged period of time without using any activity on the Site. If your account has become inactive, we will seek to contact you to encourage you to reactivate your account, but reserve the right to suspend or terminate the account due to inactivity without notice.

  1. Safety

Inciting Violence and Criminal Behavior. Users are strictly prohibited from using the Site to promote or encourage violence or any other illegal activity. This means that users may not make any threats of violence or encourage violence, directly or indirectly, against any individual or group, promote acts of terrorism, offer counterfiet products, or participate in any other criminal behavior.

Harassment. You are prohibited from engaging in conduct that is interpreted as harassing, abusive, intimidating, or encouraging physical harm or serious bodily injury toward another community member or group.

Suicide and Self-injury. You are prohibited from using the platform to encourage or promote bullying, suicide, eating disorders or self injury. You are not allowed to post content, including fictional content such as memes, that includes graphics or imagery that depicts self injury, suicide, bullying, or someone suffering from an eating disorder.

Hate Speech and Discrimination. You may not use the platform to promote violence, target, threaten or intimidate other community members on the basis of race, ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

  1. Objectionable Content

Sexual Content. Community members are prohibited from uploading sexually explicit images to the Site. Sexually explicit images are images that depict actual or simulated sexual acts including sexual intercourse, oral sex, or masturbation. It also includes most images that depict the genitals or pubic area of a person. We recognize that some images depicting nudity may have artistic or public value that upon evaluation may not be considered obscene. We reserve the right to determine, in our sole discretion, whether images uploaded to the Site are offensive or obscene.

Violent Content. You are prohibited from posting content that celebrates or glorifies acts of violence toward an individual or group of people. This includes encouraging others to commit acts of violence or showing support or condoning acts of violence.

Child Sexual Exploitation. You are strictly prohibited from posting or promoting images, links, graphics, text or any media of sexually exploitative or suggestive imagery of minors. Additionally, you are prohibited from using Rally to engage communities that attempt to exploit or express a desire to promote activities related to child sexual exploitation.

Adult Sexual Exploitation and Solicitation. Rally wants to promote the artistic expression of community members, but this needs to be balanced with the community’s mission to make sure that we maintain a safe and respectful space. Content that promotes adult sexual exploitation, including human trafficking or encourages sexual violence in any way, will be prohibited. This includes removing or prohibiting content that displays intimate images shared with or without the consent of the person(s) depicted. You are also prohibited from using the Site to encourage or facilitate the provision of sexual services or encounters between or among adults.

False Media. We believe healthy communities promote transparency and the free flow of accurate information. Community members are prohibited from distributing or promoting non-artistic content or publications that are false, misleading, or deceptive…

Violation of Intellectual Protection Rights. You may not use the Site to facilitate the purchase, sell, or promotion of illegal goods or service, including, but not limited to counterfeit goods, controlled substances, stolen goods, or firearms. More specifically, you may not use the Site to distribute goods that have a trademark or brand that is identical to the registered trademark or brand of another without their permission.

  1. Security

Information Security. Users or visitors of the Site are prohibited from engaging in or attempting to gain unauthorized access to your personal information or account. Users or visitors are prohibited from attempting to compromise community member accounts, Rally systems or the systems of third party partners affiliated with the Site, use malicious software or phishing methods to harm or gain device or network access. You are ultimately responsible for your activity using your account and we encourage you not to share your account credentials with others.

  1. Complaints

Report violations. As part of the Rally community, we are all expected to report suspected or actual violations of these guidelines, Terms of Service, and laws. If you have a reason to believe that there exists illicit conduct, violations of these guidelines or Terms of Services you should immediately report those facts and any supporting documentation to policy@rally.io.

  1. Policy Enforcement

Policy Enforcement. We may, at our sole discretion, reverse or cancel any transactions, suspend, ban, or limit your use of or access to your balance, funds, account and/or the Site. We may also report or disclose to a law enforcement information concerning your account, transactions, or use of the Site where we determine that such report or disclosure may be required by applicable law or is otherwise appropriate.

  1. Policy Updates

Policy Updates. As Rally evolves, we will need to periodically revise or supplement these guidelines. Accordingly, we reserve the right to amend this policy at any time for any reason without notice to you to ensure that we are maintaining a healthy community. The revised version will be effective at the time we publish it on our website with the designation “Last Modified” and the date at the top of these guidelines. Your continued use of the Site will constitute your acceptance of these guidelines as published. If you do not agree to the revised policy, your only remedy will be to stop using the Site.

Thanks for letting us know these beforehand. Here are some of my initial thoughts:

  1. “In order to keep your account active you must maintain a balance of Creator Coin or RLY in your account and login in to your account at least once annually.”

What happens to the $RLY in cases where people don’t log in? Is this returned to the user?

  1. “False Media” This term has widely been abused over the past couple of years. The subjectivity that goes into what is false can largely be based in worldview/agenda. For instance, some things a majority of the Rally staff may believe to be bullying may in actuality be a large difference in where one person places their foundation of truth vs. another.

For more specifics on this question, are you all referring to something posted directly on Rally? Or are you saying that if I post something on Twitter that you all don’t particularly agree with or care for, that it would put my Rally account in jeopardy?

Hey and thank you for asking!

Taking your questions in order:

  1. We are keeping a close eye on regulations as it pertains to this question, and will make a decision on process based on current regulatory requirements closer to when we’d be in the position to deactivate a user’s account (which won’t be until at least a year from when these Standards go into effect). A user will be notified in advance of any action being taken.

  2. We state:

We believe healthy communities promote transparency and the free flow of accurate information. Community members are prohibited from distributing or promoting non-artistic content or publications that are false, misleading, or deceptive that negatively influences community economies and participation.

Users are prohibited from using Rally to perpetuate misleading, deceptive or false information that materially interferes with community economies and members. Rally does not actively monitor third party sites to determine if there is a nexus between the activity on those sites and on Rally. However, we will take all available information into account to understand how and when users are using Rally for nefarious purposes or to mislead other users.

Please note the key ideas in these statements, that while we are not actively monitoring third parties, we are taking into account any media on or off Rally’s platform that “negatively influences community economies and participation” or uses "Rally for nefarious purposes or to mislead other users.

I hope that helps to clarify things for you.
